Amongst a wealth of new proposals, the widespread use of <strong>marble<\/strong> was certainly one of this year\u2019s most notable influences.<\/p>\n<p>Used for dining and coffee tables, for home accessories or as the unifying feature of an entire scheme, as was the case on the Oasis stand, the prolific use of <strong>marble<\/strong> has reignited a desire for sophisticated and luxurious designs, inspired by international style and characterised by painstaking attention-to-detail.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>three Oasis rooms<\/strong> at the <strong>Salone<\/strong> were greeted with universal acclaim: from the great fireplace in the <strong>living room<\/strong> to the top of the large table in the dining room, from the wall-coverings to the skirting boards, \u201c<strong>Mistic Brown<\/strong>\u201d <strong>marble<\/strong> was chosen to create a stunning visual backdrop to the <strong>Oasis<\/strong> furniture.<\/p>\n<p>The same type of <strong>marble<\/strong> was also used for the <strong>FuoriSalone<\/strong> exhibit which was located in via Durini and dedicated instead to <strong>Oasis\u2019 bathroom creations<\/strong>: Its rich dark hues combined with the eye-catching waterfall effects created a sensual and cultured atmosphere, highlighted not least by the gleaming gold and chrome finishes of the <strong>Luxury Collection<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The use of natural <strong>marble<\/strong>, both white (as from Carrara in Italy) and more exotic coloured versions, has been synonymous with <strong>Italian style<\/strong> since the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Thanks to its elegance, beauty and sheer versatility, marble is experiencing a return to its golden age.
